How does Google Business Profile, or Google My Business recognize metadata for images?
When does Google recognize metadata for images?
Google can read any image metadata. Whether it uses that information for ranking purposes is a separate question.
Metadata in images uploaded to a website is certainly considered for ranking purposes. There has been speculation that image metadata is not used for Google My Business. Still, it is almost impossible to prove either way since there are many simultaneous fluctuating ranking factors.
However, the algorithm is constantly changing. Since Google lives off the data it collects, it only makes sense to continue adding metadata to images, mainly because it is done automatically by the dbaPlatform system.
