How do I fix the “New car has model year older than 2019” error?
This article will detail the “New car has model year older than 2019” error message and how to remedy it.
If you’ve received this message, it means that a vehicle is being listed as NEW, but the model year listed is older than 2019. Google requires that NEW cars be less than 3 years old.
*To remedy, do the following based upon the data collection method being used (Site Scrape or FTP)
- Site Scrape - Ensure all vehicles being presented as NEW on VDPs be less than 3 years old, otherwise they have to be considered USED. (Current model year threshold is 2019)
- FTP - Update vehicle “YEAR” column to be less than 3 years old for NEW vehicles, if the vehicle is older than 3 years, it must be listed on the .csv file as USED.
